As the month of September draws to a close, I reflect on my attendance at the Global SME Finance Forum, held on 12-14 September 2023 in Mumbai, India, which proved to be a significant event that brought together key players in the SME finance sector from around the globe. This three-day conference which is the world’s highest level, most technically in-depth and most geographically diverse, was an enlightening and transformative experience. 

The theme of this year’s conference, “Building Digital Ecosystems and the future of SME finance,” aligns perfectly with our company’s vision and strategic goals. The conference provided a platform for experts and thought leaders to delve into the latest trends and advancements in digital technology, and to discuss how these can be harnessed to enhance SME financing. 

One of the key takeaways from the conference was the importance of creating robust digital ecosystems that cater to the specific needs of SMEs. These ecosystems can provide a seamless experience for SMEs, enabling them to access a range of financial services such as loans, insurance, and payment solutions, all in one place. The conference emphasized the need for collaboration among financial institutions, fintech companies, and policymakers to develop and implement these ecosystems effectively.
